Ted Carter ace John Brogden has won the Maver Match This qualifier at Heronbrook Fishery. The venue regular drew well on Canal Peg 11 and opted to fish long pole over to the reeds for most of the match to top the talented field with a winning 130-03-00.
One of the hottest
days of the year so far greeted the 106 anglers for this
latest Mega Match This qualifier. The fishery has been in great form
of late producing some truly impressive weights. However, due to the
searing heat, anglers were expecting a difficult match, but this proved
not to be the case with every pool producing three-figure weights!
runner-up on the day, and just missing out on a place in the Grand
Final, was David Emlyn (Oakengates). David drew Peg 2 on Meadow lake and
fished a superb match ending the day with 128-14-00 fishing pole and
Michael Elliott finished in third place from Peg
8, also on Meadow. Michael opted to fish caster shallow to end the day
with 123-12-00 of F1s.
Finishing in fourth place on the day was
Lingmere Fishery owner, Stephen Openshaw. Steve drew Peg 21 on Bridge.
Fishing pellet at 13m towards a shelf on the far bank he ended the match
Matrix / Bait Tech man Grant Albutt finished in
fifth place from Peg 35 on the match lake. Upon arriving at his
peg, Grant could see plenty of fish moving in front of him just below
the surface and opted to fish casters up in the water over to the point
of an island to weigh in 103-03-00 at the end of the five hours.
