The up-and-coming match water in Fazeley, Staffordshire, has really got tongues wagging lately with strings of consistent weights. Just a few weeks ago a new record of 190lb was set – but that was toppled out of sight as four anglers broke the magical 200lb barrier in yesterday's five-hour afternoon contest, with the record now standing at 259lb 12oz!
Top West Midlands commercial expert, Simon Richardson (Bridgnorth Tackle, DS Floats), is the new record holder. He had an estimated 50 carp for his catch off Peg 32 and told Pole Fishing: "I caught steadily all day apart from a 20-minute spell where I couldn't get a bite. I fished paste on the short pole and a top kit plus one down both edges – one with maggots and the other with pellet and corn. The maggot swim was best and I fed just over six pints to keep them coming.
"To be honest, I never felt I was really in bagging mode! I must add that Bonehill is an amazing venue as you never know where the winner will come from!"
