Porth Reservoir will not feature in this years Bait-Tech festival, White Acres fishery boss Clint Elliott has announced.
The move comes after several entrants on the Bait-Tech Festival last year complained about the inconsistent sport at the venue, following some poor weights. This led Clint and his team to do a poll, in which 70 per cent of anglers said they would rather the festival did not include the reservoir in its rotation.
Clint explained: “In some ways I am sad to have to take Porth out from the Bait-Tech Festival, as it is a venue that is very close to my heart. I think the problem is that the Bait-Tech falls just a little bit too early in the year, and the water is still very cold – which means that the sport can be patchy.
"All we can do as organisers is bow to popular demand – so we will be taking Porth out for this festival, and including another section on site at White Acres instead.
"Porth lovers need not fear, though, we will be using the venue in all the other major events where it has been used previously, so there will still be plenty of opportunities for those who love the place to get their fix.”
The Bait-Tech is the first major festival of the year, starting on March 23rd.
