Bennett Is The Master

Andy Bennett wins Pole Fishing Masters.

Andy Bennett has won the Daiwa sponsored Pole Fishing Masters Festival at Tunnel Barn Farm, with a perfect three point score.

Andy, who also won the match on the day, scooped almost £2,600 in cash over the three days, plus a Daiwa Air pole worth £5,999.

The Guru backed star said: “I am over the moon to have won what I think is a fantastic new event, at a venue that I really enjoy visiting. The sport at Tunnel Barn has been brilliant over the three days, and to top off the festival with a match winning 176-3-0 net of F1s was a great end to the trip.

No doubt the Mrs will nab the cheque off me as soon as I get home, but the Daiwa Air will definitely come in handy. Ironically enough, I won the festival using one, as I own one already, but I’m looking at doing a lot more natural venue fishing,  so the spares will be a god send.”

In runners up spot, also with a three point score was Andy Power. Andy had a weight of 428-8 – and so was just 29-12-0 off victory. Third place was filled by former England Youth international and Maver backed rod, Dale Shepherd, while Colmic backed whizz Mark Wainwright took fourth spot. Both had three points, and weights of 368-1-0 and 349-5-0 respectively.

Event organiser, Pole Fishing Editor, Tom Scholey, was delighted with how the event had gone: “I get the impression everyone has had a good time, and the fishing has been fantastic. In total, 70 weights over 100lb have been recorded over the three days, and when you think that the average size of fish at Tunnel Barn Farm is under 2lb, that is busy fishing.

I must extend a massive thank you to Daiwa, who took a big leap of faith, not only by backing the event with a host of tackle prizes, including a Daiwa Air worth £5,999, but also for committing to back it for the next two years as well. That level of sponsorship is virtually unheard of in match angling. A big thanks must also go out to Tunnel Barn Farm, who have also backed the event, and really couldn’t have been more helpful and accommodating. It is easy to see why the venue is so well regarded.”

Details of next years event are expected to be announced imminently, so keep an eye on the Pole Fishing website over coming weeks for your chance to get involved!
