An exciting new canal competition has been scheduled to take place this winter. Taking place on the prolific Stainforth & Keadby Canal near Thorne, subject to turnout the Bait-Tech Canal Championship will see over £5,000 paid out to qualifiers in a grand final next February.Organised by Lee Kerry, Tom Scholey and Matt Godfrey, the contest will take the place of the Bait-Tech Teams Of Three League, which ran last year.
Lee explained “The bloodworm season is fast approaching and the team here are always looking for new ways to improve our competitions and this year is no different.”
Starting on December 6th, this year’s matches will be run as a series of individual qualifying matches, with a grand final on February 14th.
Entry for a qualifying match will be £30, with £10 from each angler going towards the grand final.
The final will see big section prizes and an impressive overall payout, giving everyone the chance to win big.
Qualifying will be based on five to seven-peg sections (depending on numbers), with default qualifiers as the matches progress.
Pegging will be specially selected to included all the noted hotspots, such as Stanilands Marina, West Street and Whikewell Bridge.
