The final round of the Harrisons Fossdyke League saw the conditions on the Fossdyke Canal less than ideal.
With ice water flowing through the competition stretch at Woodcocks Length and no bloodworm and joker allowed, fishing was tough. But that didn’t deter Pole Fishing’s very own Tom Scholey as he took victory with an impressive 9-4-0 of fish, more than doubling the weight of his nearest competitor.
Fishing peg 35 on the stretch, Tom started slowly, but eventually found good quality roach to 12oz feeding at seven metres with bread punch tactics accounting for his haul.
Second placed Dave Small took two quality perch on lobworm fished across to the far bank for a 3-2-0 total. In third place was another roach weight, with Rob Thorley also finding some good fish on bread punch for 2-7-0.
In the overall league standings though the big winner on the day was Matrix Dynamite’s Rob Perkins who proved his consistency over the six match series and taking fourth place on the day.
In second place overall was Sensas-backed Matt Godfrey who tied with Rob Perkins on points but lost out when he brought his dropped result in to play.
Following a competition that saw the canal fish well throughout all of the fixtures, expectation are high for another good league next year.
