War Of The Roses!

Fun Fund-raisers for England Vets team.

Two 80 peg matches are being organised to raise funds for the Angling Trust Team England Veterans in their quest to regain the FIPSed World Championship title that they last won at Penacova on Portugal’s river Mondego in 2012.

The first of two matches will be fished at Partridge Lakes on Wednesday 6th May with the second at Lindholme Lakes on Wednesday 20th May.

Forty anglers will represent each county as the White Rose guys from the house of York managed by Dick Clegg battle it out with the Red Rose guys of Lancashire managed by Danny Sixsmith.

Entry for each 5 hour match will be £25 which includes pools and there will be a raffle each day with lots of prizes.

Don't worry about not being able to fish both events as all you need to do is state your preference for which match and county you wish to represent.

In high spirits about the event, Dick Clegg said: “Us Yorkies need to put right the defeat at Bosworth in 1485 when King Richard the 3rd was battered by Henry Tudor later King Henry the 7th.

“Well, I Richard the Clegg OBE a Yorkist wants to batter Danny the Sixsmith a Lancastrian and put the record straight, so please sign up to battle by contacting myself or Danny.

“Not only your County but you Country needs you by helping to send our Vets team back to Portugal to fish the 8th FIPSed Veterans World Championships in Cabecao on Friday the 5th and Saturday 6th of July.

“Please support our angling teams. Most of England’s over paid sportsmen win absolutely nothing when representing their country but us anglers can over achieve even without the help of government hand-outs.”
